Smart Growth Development

The Smart Growth Network describes smart growth development as “town-centered, transit and pedestrian oriented, with a greater mix of housing, commercial and retail uses. It also preserves open space and many other environmental amenities.”

The Shops at Brandywine Valley is a mixed-used development consistent with smart growth principles and the goals and objectives of the New Castle County Comprehensive Development Plan.  While a relatively new idea in New Castle County, these types of communities are being built across the country and have been very successful.
